This collection comes from all of that and a moment when I needed some perspective. I had just dropped off a painting off to a local collector, leaving it by her door for a no contact delivery (who even knew those words a few weeks ago?). I decided to take the beach route home, knowing full well that our beaches had been closed. What I didn't expect was every parking spot along ocean was also closed and I couldn't even pull in to sit and gaze at the Atlantic for a few minutes. I didn't expect it to crush me, but it did. I've lived here all my life, except for college, and never been confronted with not being able to enjoy the ocean. As I drove towards home my anger (yes, anger) grew. How could we be in this situation?
Then a switch flipped. I thought to myself, "you allowed yourself to be so caught up in the negative energy surrounding this situation, you nearly missed the beautiful expanses of saltmarsh (one of my favorite places) that ran all along the other side of the road you traveled."
I picked up a paintbrush and painted it out. The saltmarsh landscapes I painted became The Light Inbetween Collection. It SOLD OUT. The peace and perspective that I expressed on the canvas, spoke to others too.
During this time I have been doing a lot of things to support my creative community. Continuing this collection and needed expression of light, is something I hope we can all take to heart in this moment. The moment we are in. Not before. Not after the pandemic. The here. The now. THIS is the time we have. We must find the light in between.
love + light, now and always
